About JOIFF

JOIFF Membership of JOIFF, the Organisation for Emergency Services Management, is open to any Industrial / Commercial Organisation that is engaged in processing, storage, handling and/or transport of high risk materials and that has nominated personnel as Occupational Firefighters / Emergency Responders. Corporate Membership is open to Organisations and persons who do not fully comply with the requirements for Membership but who wish to support JOIFF.

The Member is represented by the Emergency Services Manager – or equivalent position - and nominated Deputies.
Membership of JOIFF offers the following:

Discussion Forum / Shared Learning:
The Secretary of JOIFF operates an email distribution to all Members of reports on Fires, incidents and other related matters which he receives from Members and other sources to share lessons learnt. This gives valuable information and encourages discussion and mutual exchanges of information either from individual Member to individual Member or through the Secretary, to the whole Membership. This facility is also used by Members who are seeking guidance/advice on particular matters. An archive of all this information is available for reference purposes to Members and Associate Members through a password system, on the JOIFF website.

Accredited Training:
Through its Training Standards Committee, JOIFF has developed a series of Training Courses and Programmes which it has accredited. Such Courses and Programmes are specifically directed at Fire Safety/Emergency Response Staff in Process Industries and they are carried out at JOIFF approved Training Establishments and also in Modular form on Company sites under the supervision of JOIFF approved Instructors. All Courses are audited to ensure that Training is consistent with the agreed JOIFF syllabi, Site and Instructor requirements.

Information dissemination:
JOIFF publishes a quarterly Newsletter called The Catalyst which includes information submitted by members as well as other information relative to the on going activities of JOIFF. All copies of The Catalyst can be downloaded from the JOIFF website. JOIFF also organises Seminars and Workshops on subjects of interest to JOIFF Members. The JOIFF website is regularly updated with matters of interest to Members. Each Member receives a Membership Directory and through this, Member-to-Member contact takes place.

Technical Advisory Group:
JOIFF is recognised by Regulatory Authorities and other policy making Organisations and JOIFF comments and makes submissions on the nature and control of Safety issues in Process Industry such as Fire Risks, Training Competences, Standardisation, Legislation, Codes of Practice etc. with a view to improving Standards of Safety and of the Working Environment in which Process Industry operates World wide.
